When I first received the offer from Istanbul Center to serve as the executive director, I was excited and accepted the offer without hesitation. My wife and kids were also enthusiastic about living in Atlanta. Therefore, it is my privilege to be here and even more so to be part of the Center.
My goal at Istanbul Center is to advance appreciation for intercultural and interfaith relationship by building sustained communication and creating opportunities for shared collective experiences among individuals of diverse backgrounds.
I believe that these relationships will help us build a community of peace and social harmony founded upon shared hopes and goals in an atmosphere of respect. My desire is that this shared understanding will extend to all levels and stages of leadership in Atlanta and the greater Southeast.
Difference is not the enemy of peace, rather, it is lack of knowledge and misinformation that nourish fear and hostility. Dialog, reliable exchange of information, and direct communication help build trust, and respect.
I would like to thank you all for your involvement with Istanbul Center thus far and I appreciate your continued support and look forward to working with you all again in the future. Much good has been done through all of you, our great friends, especially in promoting understanding in our community.
I would also like to thank both former and current staff, board members, and advisory board members for their commitment in contributing to a better Atlanta and Southeast along with the Istanbul Center .
I believe that we will continue achieving our goals but only through your support, friendship, and participation!
