We condemn the outrageous and shocking bombings at Boston Marathon. We are deeply saddened at this grave tragedy and at the loss of lives of innocent people. Our prayers and hearts are with the victims of this tragic event and their families.

In Bengazi, Libya, armed men attacked the US consulate, killing the US Ambassador to Libya and three other staff members. We at Istanbul Center strongly condemn this attack. Our condolences go out to the families of the victims of this outrageous event. Read more...

Today marks the 11th anniversary of evil acts perpetrated in the tragic events of 9/11. The people of the world must recognize evil and stand together, unified, against it. For only when we stand together, regardless of differences in belief, race, nationality, sex and age, can we repel the forces of evil and prevent the crimes against humanity which follow them.
We must also remember that heroes do exist and that we should continue to honor not only those civil servants and citizens who lost their lives but those that survived and helped to save the lives of others on that infamous day and those who continue to serve and protect us. Read more...

This summer's 2012 Global Connections Art & Essay Contest Winners' Trip to Turkey was a great success! Students, their sponsoring teachers and a superintendent, traveled around the country for 9 days from June 11-20, visiting the cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Kayseri in addition to also traversing the region of Kapadokya.

Every summer, Istanbul Center selects community leaders and officials to attend our annual trips to Turkey. This past month, Istanbul Center sent a delegation of legislators to Turkey to promote intercultural relations and increased cooperation between the U.S. - specifically the State of Georgia - and Turkey!

On Sunday, August 5th in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, an armed and disturbed ex-soldier with connections to white supremacist groups entered a Sikh temple, opening fire upon unarmed worshippers and killing six people, in an act referred to as "domestic terrorism" by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Milwaukee field office. Istanbul Center wishes to express our condolences to the victims, survivors, both their friends and families and the American Sikh community in the wake of this horrific massacre, a blatant and inexcusable act of prejudice and violence.
